The Diversity Charta Lëtzebuerg is celebrating its 10th birthday
During Diversity Day 2022, the Minister for Family Affairs and Integration and patron of the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg, Corinne Cahen, visited several signatories of the Charter to discuss the different initiatives they are taking to promote diversity at all levels in their companies.
On 18 May 2022, the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg also celebrated its 10th birthday years in the presence of the minister.
"The Diversity Charter brings so much positivity; it allows us to raise awareness and show how much stronger we are when we show diversity. Making sure that everyone is on an equal footing and finds their place in society is essential. If something works somewhere, take inspiration from it, copy it, we’re not in school anymore," explained the minister.
At the conference celebrating the 10th anniversary of the Diversity Charter and the signing ceremony, the minister had the privilege of meeting Mr Ouissem Belgacem, ambassador for diversity, who, through his own testimony, underlined the importance of mental health, which is essential for full personal development that benefits well-being at work.
A breakfast with business leaders, again in the presence of Ouissem Belgacem, closed the festivities around the 10th anniversary of the Charter.
In a decade, the Diversity Charter Lëtzebuerg has worked with signatories to change attitudes in companies. Requests to subscribe are growing and show the willingness to act and to commit more to creating an inclusive workplace. The Charter is officially signed by the CEO, which is an excellent first step to set an example.
This commitment means that companies have to take into account many parameters and involve all staff. It is not an easy task, but there are solutions, regardless of the size of the company. A few years ago, companies were only interested in a few diversity issues; today they are looking at inclusion as a whole.
In 2022, 26 new companies signed the Charter, which now includes 256 organisations committed to diversity and inclusion.
