Minister Corinne Cahen participated in the EPSCO
On 16 June 2022, Corinne Cahen participated in the Employment, Social Policy, Health and Consumer Affairs Council in her capacity as the competent Minister for Solidarity.
The agenda included a policy debate on the European Semester, the cycle of coordination of economic, budgetary, social and labour policies in the EU.
The Ministers then exchanged views on the national objectives of the Member States in order to complement the main objectives of the Action Plan for the implementation of the European Social Rights Framework: an employment rate of 78%, 60% of adults trained per year and the number of people at risk of poverty or social exclusion reduced by 15 million.
This was followed by a discussion on how to increase the employment rate of people with disabilities. It is estimated that one fifth of the EU population (currently around 87 million people) has some form of disability. People with disabilities still face multiple barriers in accessing their rights.
The Council Presidency concluded the interview with a briefing on the equal treatment dossier, its reaction to the war on Ukraine and its LGBTIQ strategy.
