Inclusion concerns us all

Disability does not discriminate. Singer, teacher or director, he can touch everyone. This campaign aims to make the public aware that an inclusive society can only take place with the support and efforts of everyone and invites everyone to think about how they can live inclusion in their daily lives.

To this end, this site aims to allow its visitors to familiarize themselves with the concept of inclusion using the text, photos and links below. The site also aims to illustrate how everyone can contribute to a more inclusive society (for example by getting involved as a volunteer in one of the associations active in the field of disability).

Let's all become actors of inclusion!

"Inclusion for everyone and everywhere"

Is a concept according to which our society should function in order to give everyone the possibility to live their life according to their wishes and desires and to participate actively and without restrictions in all aspects of life in society?

An inclusive society adapts to its citizens and not the other way around, taking into account the specificities of each.

Inclusion can be experienced in all areas of daily life: in the field of sport, culture or transport, in the construction sector, at work, at school etc.

Each of us can, in our own way, contribute to a more inclusive society!

An architect, for example, can design buildings according to accessibility standards for people with disabilities. Children and their parents can participate in sports or music lessons bringing together people with and without specific needs. An entrepreneur can make his company's website accessible to meet the needs of people with disabilities, etc.

There are many examples of how inclusion can be experienced every day!

The Campaign and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRDPH)

Luxembourg ratified the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRDPH) in 2011. Since then, many measures and provisions have gradually been put in place in cooperation with people with disabilities and associations active in the field of disability.

The campaign is based more particularly on the ideas taken up by article 19 of the CRPD:

Article 19 Independent living and inclusion in society

States Parties to this Convention recognize the right of all persons with disabilities to live in society, with the same freedom of choice as other persons, and take effective and appropriate measures to facilitate the full enjoyment of this right by persons with disabilities. As well as their full integration and participation in society, in particular by ensuring that:

  • people with disabilities have the possibility to choose, on the basis of equality with others, their place of residence and where and with whom they will live and that they are not obliged to live in a particular living environment
  • people with disabilities have access to a range of home or residential services and other supportive social services, including the personal assistance necessary to enable them to live in and integrate into society and to prevent are not isolated or victims of segregation
  • social services and facilities for the general population are made available to people with disabilities, on an equal basis with others, and are adapted to their needs.
