National Council of Disabled People (CNPH)

The National Council of Disabled People (CNPH) is a non-profit association, founded in April 1993 by organisations by and for disabled people.

The CNPH

  • promotes the concertation of organisations of/for people with disabilities;
  • represents the Grand Duchy in the European Disability Forum, whose priority is to influence European policies on disability;
  • raises awareness of equal opportunities and the right to full participation of people with disabilities;
  • identifies deficits in the field of disability in order to develop meaningful solutions in cooperation with the competent authorities and
  • promotes the establishment of a permanent exchange, resource and meeting place for people with disabilities.

The National Council functions as a federation of currently 55 organisations by and for people with disabilities that are active in many fields. Some of its members are managers of services and institutions, while others are self-help or support groups.

The National Council runs the National Disability Information and Meeting Centre (Info-Handicap). The service has an agreement with the Ministry.
