Intercultural living together: Official launch of the projects selected in the framework of the 2024 call for projects

The call for projects 2024 "Promoting intercultural living together" aims to implement the law of 23 August 2023 on intercultural living together. Four projects have been selected for a total of 439,060 euros to develop model modules as part of the Citizen Pact ("Biergerpakt") and the Intercultural Living Together Programme.

In his welcome speech, Max Hahn, Minister of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees, stressed the importance of strengthening the intercultural living together and supporting pilot projects in this field. These projects contribute to building a society in which every individual, regardless of their origin or culture, can find their place. He thanked the project leaders for their commitment, thanks to which intercultural living together can become a tangible reality, in particular through the implementation of the intercultural living together programme.

Networking for successful projects

The event enabled participants to find out more about the four projects selected for 2024, as well as bringing together the various players involved in the implementation and monitoring of the projects selected in recent years, with the aim of creating synergies leading to possible collaborations.

The areas of intervention of the 2024 call for project

On 25 October 2023, the Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception launched a call for projects promoting intercultural living together in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for the year 2024. The selected projects start now and will run until November 2025. They are available on the ministry's website.

The 2024 call for projects focused on two areas:

1. "Promoting the participation of cross-border workers”: One of the novelties of the law on intercultural living together is that it concerns all people living and working in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. Cross-border workers are therefore also targeted by the policy. In this context, the call sought to support projects aimed at identifying the needs in terms of participation of cross-border workers and proposing activities promoting exchanges between cross-border workers and residents.
2. "Citizen Pact and Intercultural Living Together Programme - Development of model modules”: The law on intercultural living together also provides for the possibility for all people living and working in Luxembourg to sign up to a citizen pact which gives access to an intercultural living together programme. The aim of the call for proposals was to fund projects that would contribute to this programme by proposing standard modules. Preference was given to projects seeking to create and train networks of multipliers and develop tools to facilitate the sustainability of the modules, as well as modules to be offered at local or regional level.
   

The four selected projects:

1. ACAT (Action chrétienne pour l'abolition de la torture)
   Project: Menschenrechte erlebbar machen
   The aim of the project is to raise awareness on human rights through guided tours of the 'Luxembourg Human Rights Trail'. To make the trail more accessible, the project leader will develop audio guides in various languages, including Luxembourgish, French, English, Portuguese, Arabic, Ukrainian and Spanish, as well as an easy-language version based on an existing German version. Participatory workshops will enable participants from different backgrounds to contribute to the guides and to reflect on human rights.
2. A'Musée
   Project: Café créatif "De Fuedem deen eis verbënnt"
   The creative café "De Fuedem den eis verbënnt" aims to create social links in a rural canton by developing common projects. Various modules will be offered:
   - Upcycling sewing: explore repairing, altering and creating projects for the community
   - Plastic arts: creating works of art for an exhibition inspired
   - Do it yourself: practicing DIY, helping others and learning about recycling and upcycling
3. Mir wëllen Iech ons Heemecht weisen
   Project: Bis am Bus
   The "Bis am Bus" project aims to create a place for intercultural encounters and exchange, in places where encounters do not happen so easily. Working with 3 municipalities, the project leader will develop a programme of intercultural workshops (modules) that consider the challenges and opportunities of each of the 3 municipalities. To attract the attention of the population, a bus will be present at the launch to promote the workshops and at the closing, where it will become the centre of an intercultural festival to present the results of the workshops.
4. Openscreen
   Project: Doc & Talk
   The "Doc & Talk” project consists of organizing 22 screenings of 11 documentary films followed by debates on subjects linked to living together in different cinemas in Luxembourg. These screening and debate sessions will help to create links between different groups and improve mutual understanding.
