Associations and living together
Partners of the associative sector
The Intercultural Living Together Division works closely with many associations and NGOs promoting intercultural living together in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. More specifically, the Ministry of Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees concludes an agreement with certain organisations to carry out activities to promote living together.
The Ministry funds activities carried out by ASTI, CLAE, CEFIS, Hëllef um Terrain, Caritas Jeunes et Familles and Inter-Actions:
- The agreement with ASTI covers 4 areas of activity: support for local authorities, community social work, direct oral translation and the Guichet Info-Migrants. There is also another agreement to promote volunteering at a local level.
- The CLAE promotes the reception, information, guidance and training of individuals on the one hand, and supports the expression of associations and citizens on the other, while seeking to encourage new paradigms of citizenship, in particular through the Festival des Migrations and its magazine ‘Faire Société Ensemble’.
- CEFIS is active in the municipalities of the ‘Gemengepakt vum interkulturellen Zesummeliewen’, carryies out studies on intercultural living together and raises awareness of both active and passive political participation.
- The agreement with Hëllef um Terrain covers 2 areas: Social Reception (information and support for the public) and the Oasis Centre in Wiltz.
- The agreements with Caritas Jeunes et Familles and Inter-Actions concern community social work in neighbourhoods in Luxembourg City and Dudelange.

Subsidies to associations
The Ministry for Family Affairs, Solidarity, Living Together and Reception of Refugees awards subsidies to associations for projects in the field of intercultural living together and/or the fight against discrimination. More specifically, we are seeking to support projects aimed at encouraging intercultural encounters between Luxembourg and non-Luxembourg residents, as well as projects targeting cross-border workers.
As far as third places are concerned, we can support any project aimed at strengthening the skills of the people managing these places, or even any activity that does not correspond to a recurring activity of the place.
This financial support partially covers the project expenses identified as eligible.
The following organisations can apply for a subsidy: non-profit organisations, federations and social impact companies.
Applications for subsidies (application form and annexes listed) will be analysed by the Division for intercultural living together, which will assess the eligibility of the project according to the criteria described in the "terms and conditions 2025".
For 2025, associations can submit their projects throughout the year, but there are two key submission deadlines:
- 30 April 2025
- 31 October 2025
A processing time of 6 weeks is planned for the evaluation of the application submitted.
